About Youth Apprenticeship

Explore a future career while you’re still in high school. And get paid!

Youth Apprenticeships offers students the opportunity to explore future careers while still in high school and get paid for their time working at area employers. With one- and two-year programs that start with high school juniors or seniors, YA students can experience careers in fields like Agriculture, Architecture/Construction, Finance, Health, Hospitality/Culinary, Information Technology, Manufacturing, Marketing, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) and Transportation.

Youth Apprenticeship Student Eligibility

To be accepted into the Youth Apprenticeship program, the student must fulfill all of the following criteria:
  • Be currently enrolled as a junior or senior within your district;
  • Be work ready, having developed the necessary attitudes, habits, and behaviors to fit the job situation;
  • Be enrolled in an educational program which correlates with the Youth Apprenticeship experience;
  • Have the Youth Apprenticeship program approved by the supervisory teacher, the school counselor, the principal, and the employer
  • Have participated in your school’s Academic and Career Planning program
