Disciplinary Literacy

Nearly every career has unique reading, writing, speaking and listening skills which are necessary for someone to be successful in that career. Help your students make these connections by concentrating on  "disciplinary literacy"--literacy skills unique to a particular industry/curricular area.

Employability Skills/SEL

Emphasize employability skills or social and emotional learning skills--teamwork, collaboration, problem solving, work ethic, communication skills--which employers value most. Making social and emotional learning (SEL) skills part of the learning equation helps children succeed in school and life.
